About the Jackson Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

Jackson, Mississippi officially joined the Grade Level Reading Campaign in May of 2018.

The United Way of the Capital Area serves as the lead partner in efforts to help children and youth achieve their full potential by reading on grade level by 3rd Grade.  The goal of the Jackson Campaign for Grade Level Reading is to align resources and services to support efforts in our community intended to address barriers in the areas of school readiness, school attendance, and summer learning for young children from economically disadvantaged environments.

The Jackson Campaign for Grade Level Reading includes over 20 partners to include the City of Jackson, Jackson Public Schools, Hinds County Human Resource Agency, Families First of MS, The Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, Ask for More Jackson, as well as several other community partners. Our collaborative work has initiated several efforts in the area of parental support and engagement, access to quality books, awareness of quality childcare, and reading proficiency.
